Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in business, industry, or higher education.
  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with area school district staff, businesses, college faculty, administration, and students to increase enrollment in pre-college and undergraduate programs.
  • Counsel students and families regarding the college search process, admissions, career exploration, financial aid, and registration processes.
  • Plan enrollment events, career workshops, and small group tours to develop understanding of the enrollment process and career opportunities.
  • Manage an assigned geographic territory, focusing on Logan and Champaign Counties, for undergraduate admissions and Early College Programs.
  • Support application integration in the CRM during staff absences in a backup capacity.
  • Review resumes, cover letters, references, and other job-search-related documents and assist students and graduates with interview preparation.
  • Maintain current knowledge of college programs, tuition assistance programs, activities, career opportunities, and resources to communicate effectively with prospective students.
  • Create innovative ways of communicating enrollment and career-related information to the public.
  • Utilize the CRM to document, communicate, and track applicants through the enrollment process.
  • Collaborate with high school partners within Clark State’s Early College Programs, providing customer service and collaboration to staff, faculty, students, and parents.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job description

The Specialist, Admissions & Career Services position is a primary point of contact for students, graduates, and the community for the purposes of recruitment, outreach, college visits, career opportunities, internships, and career prep. The Specialist communicates with prospective and current students, as well as alumni on career focused opportunities to meet recruitment and enrollment goals. This position assists in educating faculty, staff, students, and applicants in the value of early career planning and internships. The specialist collaborates with various departments to provide career advising to students and participate in college recruiting events. This position is responsible for managing their recruitment in their designated territory and following up with enrollment leads. The specialist focuses on the recruitment of College Credit Plus students to traditional students including communication campaigns, events, and representing Clark State at events.

Shift: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm. Evenings and weekends, as needed. Location: Springfield Location

  • Manages an assigned geographic territory, focusing on Logan and Champaign Counties, as well as career centers within the service area, for undergraduate admissions and Early College Programs.
  • Supports application integration in the CRM during staff absences in a backup capacity.
  • Reviews resumes, cover letters, references, and other job-search-related documents and assists students and graduates with interview preparation.
  • Maintains current knowledge of college programs, tuition assistance programs, activities, career opportunities, and other resources to effectively communicate with prospective students.
  • Creates innovative ways of communicating enrollment and career-related information to the public.
  • Utilizes the CRM to document, communicate, and track applicants through the enrollment process.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge and Skills
Experience

One (1) to three (3) years of experience in business and industry or higher education.

Education

Associate's degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Physical Requirements

The work requires minor physical exertion such as short periods of standing, walking over rough, uneven surfaces, some recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. Job may require recurring lifting of lightweight objects with infrequent bending or stooping alternating with the lighter activities. Job requires minimal agility and dexterity.
