Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of college hours or an associate degree, or demonstrate knowledge via ParaPro assessment within one year from hire.
• Maintain current TB testing as required by Health Department regulations.

Responsibilities

• Engages students in classroom activities under the supervising teacher to support learning objectives.
• Administers tests, homework, and make-up work to support teachers.
• Assists students in both special education and general education settings.
• Assists with scoring tests, keeping records and reporting as required by the teacher.
• Assists with the physical setup of the classroom and with integration of technology.
• Assists students with adaptive magnifying equipment and low vision supports.
• Assists with basic student care needs including hygiene, feeding, toileting, and dressing.
• Documents health concerns and incidents, and communicates with staff and parents.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to IEP objectives, de-escalation strategies, and data collection requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned to ensure effective functioning of the work unit.
• High school paraeducators may be asked to assist and instruct students on job sites and, at times, drive student interns to sites.
