Job summary

Campbell County School District #1 in Gillette, Wyoming, is seeking a Bus Assistant to support transportation for students with special needs. The role is 6.0 hours per day, 187 days per year, starting immediately and contingent on a pre-employment physical.

You will assist the Bus Driver with safety, discipline and student support during loading, ride time and unloading, and you will document activities and communicate with parents and staff as required.

Qualifications

• Skills: adherence to safety practices and use of restraints/assistive equipment.
• Knowledge: safety procedures and supervising students.
• Ability: schedule activities, data handling, and working with diverse individuals.

Responsibilities

• Assist Bus Driver in maintaining interior cleanliness and safety of the bus.
• Conduct emergency evacuation drills as required.
• Assist students during transport: tying shoes, coats, personal hygiene, loading/unloading.
• Attend meetings and convey/gather information.
• Communicate with parents, teachers, bus drivers, or administration about behavior and schedules.
• Informs students of bus safety and enforce rules.
• Lift students/equipment as needed.
• Monitor student behavior to prevent distraction or injury.
• Prepare written materials documenting activities.
