Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC seeks an experienced Radiologic Technologist for Special Procedures. The role performs invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures, operating x-ray equipment and ensuring QA of film processing while monitoring patients across all ages.

You'll liaison with physicians and staff, prepare patients, follow safety guidelines, and participate in department QA and performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • ARRT (R) certification is required.
  • CV or VI registry is required for this role.
  • One year of work experience is required.
  • Demonstrates technical skills and expertise in interventional radiology procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform invasive diagnostic, neurodiagnostic, interventional, and neurointerventional procedures.
  • Operate x-ray equipment and ensure quality assurance of film processing.
  • Maintain patient monitoring and safety, using universal precautions.
  • Communicate with physicians, nurses, and staff about orders, scheduling and procedure status.
  • Contribute to department performance improvement and QA projects.

FacilityCape Fear Valley Medical CenterLocationFayetteville, North CarolinaDepartmentSpecial ProceduresJob FamilyAllied HealthWork ShiftVariable (United States of America)SummaryPerforms invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures and is responsible for the operation and quality assurance of film processing, patient monitoring and the x-ray equipment. Participates in the daily activities of the section by assisting as a scrub, float, and imaging technologist.Major Job FunctionsThe following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Fully competent to perform all procedures within the Special Procedures section of invasive diagnostic, neurodiagnostic, interventional radiology and neurointerventional proceduresDemonstrates competency and efficiency in the treatment, care and interaction with all patients to include adolescents, adults and geriatricsFully competent in the technical operation of equipmentServes as liaison between the floor nurse, unit secretary and attending physicians as to orders, procedures, scheduling, status of procedures, and other related questions or concernsAssesses the patient, reviews chart for orders and lab results. Loads any pertinent prior imaging and insures completion of Radiant in Epic. Communicates with the Interventionalist as to the availability of all the above.Prepares the patient for their procedure, answers questions within their scope of practice. Directs other questions to InterventionalistProvides a safe environment to include, but not limited to, radiation exposure, contrast administration and infection control guidelines/Universal precautionsMaintains accurate record of patient careResponsible for adding charges, beginning and ending each procedure in the computer system to ensure proper patient billing for servicesResponsible for maintaining professional growth to include current methodology of procedures, equipment and techniques. Maintains annual mandatory hospital trainingMaintains exceptional guest relations with patient, visitors, hospital staff and medical staff to include the use of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you)Actively participates in the clinical education of student technologistsMonitors the quality of care based on on-going monitors striving for continuous improvement. Performs QA of exams prior to sending to Physician for dictation.
