Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC seeks an Allied Health professional for the Electrophysiology Lab to support invasive diagnostic and interventional cardiology and radiology procedures. The role includes quality assurance of imaging, patient monitoring and team support in scrub, monitor, and imaging tech tasks.

Responsibilities span procedure preparation, assisting with device implants, EP studies and ablations, and ensuring safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree required; ACLS and BCLS required.
  • Certification in ARRT and/or RCIS or RCES required; RCIS/RCES within 1 year may be pursued.
  • Experience in electrophysiology, invasive radiology, or interventional cardiology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides and ensures quality care for patients in EP lab and related procedures.
  • Assesses patient condition, reviews orders and lab results.
  • Performs in scrub role: sets up sterile field and assists with implants and studies.
  • Monitors hemodynamic, EKG, and pressure waveforms; documents observations.
  • Maintains safe environment with radiation, contrast, and infection control guidelines.

Responsible for the operation and quality assurance of film/image processing, patient monitoring and x-ray equipment. Participates in the daily activities of the lab by assisting with scrub, float, monitor, and imaging technology roles.Major Job FunctionsThe following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Provides and ensures quality care for patients as indicated by their clinical conditionAssesses the patient, reviews chart for orders and lab resultsPrepares patients for procedurePerforms in the scrub role setting up sterile fieldAssists with pacemaker, AICD, and intraventricular device implantsAssists with electrophysiology studies and ablations (atrial and ventricular) including the use of various electrophysiological recording, mapping and navigation systems, cardiac stimulators and ablation equipment (RF and Cryo)Performs in the monitor role by observing and documenting hemodynamic, EKG, and pressure waveformsEnsures that time-outs occur prior to beginning proceduresProvides a safe environment to include but not limited to radiation exposure, contrast administration, and infection control guidelines/Universal Precautions for the EP Lab, and the Health SystemParticipates in the ongoing cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology labs quality control program, preventive maintenance, and performance improvement programsDemonstrates knowledge of growth and development of the younger to older adult and understands the range of treatment based on the patient’s developmental needsOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education and Formal Training:Associate’s degree requiredACLS, BCLS requiredCertification in ARRT and/or RCIS or RCES requiredRegistry eligible may apply and complete RCIS or RCES within 1 year of employmentWork Experience:Experience with electrophysiology, invasive diagnostic radiology, or interventional cardiology preferredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:Ability to assess patient needs correctly and take appropriate actionThorough knowledge of medications, emergency procedures and medical equipmentAbility to work with personnel of varied training/backgroundsGood oral and written communication skillsMaintains composure during high stress situationsKnowledge of and ability to operate x-ray and patient monitoring equipmentPhysical Requirements:Flexibility with work scheduleGood hearing abilityAbility to speak clearlyVisual acuityMotor coordination and manual dexterityGood physical and mental stamina to perform duties and responsibilitiesWork is medium to heavyWork requires moving of equipment and patientsExposure to ionizing radiationAbility to lift 100 lbs with frequent lift/carry objects up to 50 lbsWears lead lined apronStands for extended periods of timeMay be subject to occupational exposure including skin, eye, mucous membrane or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material during patient contactModerate to high amount of stress from heavy patient scheduling, interaction with physicians and type of patient not limited to unstable patient conditionsRequired Licenses and CertificationsCape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
