Job summary

The Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) seeks a Special Procedures Technologist to support interventional radiology with patient assessment, pre/post procedure education, and safe imaging practices. You will operate vascular C-arm equipment, manage radiation safety, and document regulatory information while assisting in patient positioning.

Graduate Radiologic Technology with ARRT and SCRQSA licensure, plus BLS, is required; 2–4 years’ related work experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in interventional radiology preferred.
• ARRT, SCRQSA licensure, and BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs invasive procedures with the interventional radiologist.
• Assesss patients and provide pre/post procedure education.
• Ensure safe radiation administration, contrast dosing and image processing.
• Maintain and operate specialized vascular C-arm equipment for clear imaging.
• Maintain radiation safety knowledge and regulatory documentation.

Job Description/Summary:

The Special Procedures Technologist performs invasive procedures partnered with the interventional radiologist. Minimum Training and Education :

Graduate from an accredited school of radiologic technology and minimum 1 year of experience in interventional radiology preferred and /or graduate of an advanced IR program.

Must be able to produce very high quality special imaging with little supervision. Must be able to function effectively in a team-oriented environment. Must be familiar with age specific criteria.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations :

Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and licensed by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA).

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent).

Proactively maintains and renews ARRT, state license, BLS, PPD, respirator fit test, and POC training.
