Qualifications

• Possess and maintain a valid Alabama bus driver license (ABL) and CDL with P/S endorsement.
• Maintain a current Alabama School Bus Physical or ALDOT Health Card as required by state law.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act.
• Insurable driving record for school system insurance.
• Pass drug test as required by law.
• CPR certification maintained.
• Proficient in written and verbal communication.
• Ability to operate a school vehicle on designated routes and schedules, including pre-dawn/dusk operations.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates support for the school system, its vision, goals, and priorities.
• Prepares and submits monthly school bus reports.
• Performs daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus.
• Maintains a clean bus and adheres to traffic laws and safety rules.
• Operates wheelchair lift and specialized devices as needed for designated students.
• Maintains discipline and reports issues to proper authorities.
• Transports students on field trips and extracurricular events as assigned.
• Maintains confidentiality of school/workplace matters.
