Job summary

Phoenix Union High School District is seeking a Bus Driver to transport special needs students between home and school in a safe and timely manner. The role involves operating a school bus, including wheelchair lifts, performing safety inspections, and maintaining records and communication with families and staff.

A valid Class B CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsement and DPS fingerprint clearance are required, along with first aid and CPR certifications.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Class B CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsement required.
• DPS Level 1 IVP Fingerprint clearance required.
• Red Cross first aid and CPR certificates required or to be obtained within 10 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Drives a bus along routes and special activity trips, picking up and dropping off students at designated stops.
• Inspects buses for safety and proper operation.
• Fuels buses.
• Monitors and assists with student behavior, safety, and medical needs on the bus.
• Cleans and sterilizes buses.
• Maintains regular communication with parents, supervisors, staff, co-workers, and students.
• Completes required paperwork including route changes, mileage reports, and student counts.
• Upholds confidentiality and follows district policies and procedures.
