Job summary

The Hayward Area Recreation and Park District's Sorensdale Recreation Center in Hayward, CA is hiring a Special Needs Program Leader to guide educational, vocational and recreational programming for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities to help them reach personal goals.

The role requires an Associate of Arts Degree (or higher), a valid California driver’s license and First Aid/CPR and CA Food Handlers certifications within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• Associate of Arts Degree with coursework in Social Services, Recreation, or related field.
• Preferred CA Teaching Credential – Designated Subjects Adult Education or 4-Year degree in related field.
• Three years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience in the specific assigned program area.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California driver’s license.
• Must obtain First Aid and CPR certification within six months of employment and CA Food Handlers Certificate within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and lead program activities within an assigned program area.
• Maintain records of participation and collect participant fees.
• Support clients in reaching their personal goals.
• Collaborate with Program Instructors and participants to address needs and issues.
• Oversee preparation of facilities and equipment for scheduled activities and events.
