Job summary

City of Sunnyvale is seeking a Therapeutic Recreation Program Director to plan, implement, and evaluate recreation programs for individuals with disabilities. The role involves adapting activities, ensuring safety, and building rapport with parents, participants, and volunteers.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, two summers of related experience, a valid CA driver's license, and a current First Aid/CPR/AED certificate.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Two years or two summers of experience in recreation, after school, health & fitness or related population.
• Valid California Class C driver's license with safe driving record.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certificate (course may be taken after hire).

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and evaluate recreation programs for individuals with disabilities
• Adapt activities to meet the needs of participants; create a positive and safe environment
• Establish positive rapport with parents, participants and volunteers
• Assist with the coordination of the Therapeutic Recreation program
• Guide and direct staff, interns and volunteers
• Maintain supplies and equipment
• Manage participants' behaviors
• Attend staff meetings and trainings
