Job summary

The Evanston/Skokie School District 65 is seeking a Paraprofessional to support instructional programs for students with special needs in regular or self-contained classrooms. Under supervision, you will assist with implementing IEPs and monitor student behavior.

Responsibilities include adapting activities, administering tasks, providing first aid, and communicating with staff and families. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a related field and appropriate educator licenses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a job-related area.
• Professional Educator License.
• Substitute Teaching License.
• Educator License with Stipulations (TBE).
• Educator License with Stipulations (PARA).

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities, assignments and materials under supervision to support objectives.
• Administer tests, homework, and make-up work to support teachers.
• Provide immediate first aid and medical assistance as needed.
• Assist medically fragile or physically disabled students with personal hygiene.
• Attend meetings and in-service presentations to convey job-related information.
• Communicate with supervising staff and parents about progress and IEP objectives.
• Implement behavioral plans designed by IEP team under supervision.
• Maintain instructional materials and records to ensure availability and compliance.
• Monitor students in various school environments to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Provide instruction to students in individual and group activities to reinforce objectives and IEP plans.
