Job summary

Delaware County Intermediate Unit is seeking a paraprofessional to support the instructional program and assist in supervising and instructing special needs students in regular or self-contained classrooms. The role includes implementing plans, monitoring behavior, and attending IEP meetings.

The position is full-time for 10 months, with summer work available for additional compensation. A strong candidate will have experience with children and possess good communication skills to collaborate

Qualifications

High school diploma required.
Must acquire Highly Qualified Paraprofessional status.
Participation in professional development is required.
Experience with children is preferred.
Flexible and reliable, with regular computer use.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to follow teacher direction and use good judgment.
Able to establish rapport with students and maintain positive staff relationships.

Responsibilities

Provide support to instructional program within assigned classroom.
Assist in supervision, care and instruction of special needs students in regular or self-contained classrooms.
Assist in implementing instructional plans.
Monitor student behavior during non-classroom time.
Provide information to appropriate school personnel.
Attend IEP meetings.
