Job summary

Duval County Public Schools seeks an Instructional Paraprofessional for Special Needs to assist under the supervision of an ESE teacher for most of the day, helping with classroom instruction and with discipline and childcare as needed. The role adapts instructional materials to students' individualized needs per IEPs.

Responsibilities include tutoring individuals or small groups, using assistive tools such as Braille, audio readers, and adapted software; supporting testing; assisting with ESOL

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 60 semester hours or passing Praxis Paraprofessional examination.

Responsibilities

• Assist with classroom instruction and tutoring under supervision.
• Monitor testing situations and plan instruction per IEPs.
• Create/modify instructional materials and assistive devices (Braille, audio readers, adapted programs).
• Provide ESOL communication support including interpretation/translation.
• Support behavior management and data collection as part of IEP goals.
• Assist with health care and daily living needs as required by students.
