Job summary
Chester County Intermediate Unit is seeking an Instructional Assistant for the IU PVA Educational Center in Philadelphia. This on-site role supports students with special needs, assists teachers, monitors progress, and helps with daily routines and safety.
Position features include part-time hours, salary based on degree/experience, and benefits such as medical coverage, PSERS retirement, and tuition reimbursement. Locations may rotate among several Philadelphia sites.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- Associate degree or 48 credits preferred.
- Experience with special needs population preferred.
- Experience with behavioral/emotional issues preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one tutoring or support for students with special needs.
- Monitor progress using behavior charts and data.
- Assist classroom teacher with duties and material prep.
- Attend specials with assigned class or student.
- Transport students to and from bathrooms, nurse, admin offices, etc.
- Assist with arrival and dismissal related to transportation.
- Aid daily hygiene including diapering/toileting; lifting may be required.
- Provide a safe, welcoming environment for all students.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
