Part-time Instructional Assistant - Child and Career Development Center

Position Overview

• Part-time classroom support / instructional assistant for the 2026-2027 school year.
• Student Services division, Chester County Intermediate Unit, Coatesville, PA.
• Benefits eligible.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree or higher, or completion of two years of post‑secondary education, or 48 credit hours from an accredited college or university is preferred.
• Experience with special needs population preferred.
• Experience working with students with severe/complex behavioral/emotional issues preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
• Current police, child‑abuse, and FBI fingerprint clearances required.
• Clearance as a mental health provider by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the federal government (conducted by CCIU upon hire).

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing a basic skills program or educational programming under direction of the educational consultant or classroom teacher.
• Provide individual tutoring or one‑on‑one support for students with special needs; may involve lifting and physical intervention with students in crisis.
• Work independently or as a member of a team in an educational setting.

Hourly Rate and Benefits

• Pay scale: $19.38 per hour for a bachelor’s degree equivalent to 9 years of experience; $23.19 per hour for a master’s degree equivalent to 15 years of experience.

• Worker’s Compensation paid by board.
• New employees receive 2 personal days annually plus prorated sick leave based on FTE; unlimited accumulation of sick days.
• Tuition reimbursement: 100% of 12 credits per year prorated based on FTE.
• Additional benefits available.

Schedule

• Part‑time: 8 AM – 3 PM, 6.5 hours per day Monday through Friday; 186 days per year.
