Job summary

Harmony DC PCS is seeking a dedicated teacher assistant to support a student with special needs in a Washington, DC school. The role is not remote; the candidate will report daily to school and participate in lessons and assessments under the lead teacher's direction.

Responsibilities include implementing behavioral strategies, assisting during related service sessions, and collaborating with the teaching team and special education staff.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of teacher assistant/dedicated aide experience.
• CEP degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support a Student with Special Needs throughout the School Day, assisting participation in lessons, activities, and assessments.
• Give lessons under the direction of the lead teacher.
• Implement prescribed behavioral strategies and positive behavior support in all settings.
• Accompany and assist students during related service sessions (speech therapy, occupational therapy, etc).
• Collaborate with the Lead Teacher and the Student Support Coordinator in planning and managing lessons and independent work.
• Provide regular communication about students' development to the lead teacher.
• Plan for classroom environment, natural environment teaching, instruction, discrete trial instruction, behavior management, and reinforcement systems.
• Participate in training related to data collection and assessment; discuss observations with staff.
