Job summary

The Inn is seeking a dedicated Special Needs Worker for a full-time, on-site role. You will support residents with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities, helping them achieve independence, dignity, and social inclusion in daily activities and community involvement.

You will work as part of a care team, following individualized plans, and may assist with mobility, transportation, and health-related tasks while maintaining safety and compassion at all times.

Qualifications

• Must show patience, empathy, emotional resilience and strong problem-solving abilities.
• Proven ability to communicate compassionately with clients and families.
• Experience in caregiving, direct support, or special education is valued.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and feeding.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks and meal preparation.
• Provide medication reminders and support with health-related needs.
• Accompany clients to medical appointments, community events, and social activities.
• Support clients in staying engaged in their communities and daily living activities.
• Teach and reinforce life skills like cooking, budgeting, time management, and social behaviors.
• Build trusting relationships with clients and families and work with the care team to follow plans.
• Respond calmly to emotional/behavioral needs and handle crises professionally.
• Assist with client mobility and transportation needs with a valid license.
