Job summary

Paris Independent School District in Paris, TX, is seeking a Special Needs Aide (nonexempt) to support students with disabilities inside and outside the classroom. You will assist with IEPs, self‑help, behavior management, and instruction under the supervision of a certified teacher.

A high school diploma or GED is required; Texas educational aide certificate and two years of experience with children are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a High school diploma or GED.
• Must possess a Texas educational aide certificate.
• Two years experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Help meet the individual needs of students including transferring to and from wheelchairs; lifting and positioning; interpreting instructions; and assisting with physical needs and personal care such as feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene.
• Help manage the behavior of assigned students. This includes intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous student as needed.
• Recognize differences in student’s medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs and adapt methods and interaction accordingly.
• Work with assigned students or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by teacher.
• Assist assigned students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
• Keep the teacher informed of special needs or problems of assigned students.
