Fill urgent clinical needs, increase our adjunct pool while decreasing the risk of Overage pay for full-time faculty and overtime for MCHS nurses who are hourly.
Special Instructor, Clinicals

Primary Purpose:

Seeking qualified candidates for adjunct nursing faculty positions to provide clinical instruction in critical care, medical-surgical, obstetrics, and pediatric settings. Adjunct faculty will work closely with nursing students in various clinical environments, guiding them in the application of nursing theory to patient care, promoting safe and evidence-based practices, and supporting the development of clinical judgment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, evaluate, and advise students in classroom, laboratory, and clinical experiences.
• Maintain student records.
• Facilitate a learning and caring environment encouraging critical thinking, investigation, self-direction, and respect for individual differences.
• Communicate with and oversee activities of Assistant Instructors/Preceptors regarding curriculum and student evaluation, if applicable.
• Participate in professional activities, programs, and organizations.
• Engage in peer review.
• Attend College and Faculty Assembly meetings according to employment status.
• Attend required College functions.
• Mentor new faculty.
• Participate in scholarly activities individually or collaboratively.

Qualifications/Requirements

Special Instructor I

Bachelor's or Master's Degree.

Special Instructor II

Master's degree with at least 3 years teaching experience or terminal degree (PhD, DNP, etc.) in lieu of teaching experience.

General Requirements

• Current active unrestricted RN licensure in Ohio, if applicable. CPR certification required with RN licensure, if applicable.
• Minimum of two years nursing practice experience.
• Collegiate or university teaching experience preferred.
• Experience in curriculum development preferred.
• Effective communication skills.
• Active participation in professional and community organizations.
