Job summary

ENGEO is seeking motivated field inspection professionals with required ACI and ICC certifications. You will perform concrete, steel, and fireproofing inspections at active project sites, using Surface/Tablet tech to document results.

Roles include soils testing with a nuclear gauge during earthworks, grading, and backfill, with daily vehicle reimbursement. The ideal candidate has strong communication, reliability, and a commitment to quality in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• College coursework in Earth Sciences, Geology, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of field inspection and testing services at active project sites (reinforcing steel inspection, concrete placement and sampling, post-tensioned inspections, structural steel inspections, and fireproofing inspections).
• Operate nuclear density gauge and perform in-place compaction/moisture testing during earthworks, grading, backfill, and street construction.
• Document inspections and results using company-provided Surface/Tablet technology.
• Collaborate with peers and clients, communicate clearly, and exceed client expectations.

Description

With required ACI and ICC certifications, you will perform a wide range of field inspection and testing services at active project sites—playing a critical role in building safe, high-quality structures from the earthworks up. Core responsibilities include reinforcing steel inspection, concrete placement and sampling, pre-stressed and post-tensioned concrete inspections, structural steel bolting and welding inspections, and fireproofing inspections.

Additionally, to provide continuous, year-round job site coverage, you will perform soils field representative duties when structural inspection scope is light. This includes operating a nuclear density gauge for in-place compaction and moisture testing during site earthworks, grading, utility backfill, and street construction.

With additional ICC, ACI, AWS, city, or county certifications, you’ll have opportunities to expand your expertise into additional inspection disciplines such as structural masonry, wood framing and nailing, SWPPP, and non-destructive testing.

You’ll use company-provided Surface/Tablet technology to document inspections, soil testing, sampling, and daily field results, keeping you connected and efficient in the field.

Requirements

Required Education:

• High School/GED required
• College coursework in Earth Sciences, Geology, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management (a plus)

Required License/Certification:

• Valid Driver’s License
• Nuclear Density Gauge Certification (will train/certify if needed)
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Level I
• ICC Reinforced Concrete
• ICC Pre-Stressed Concrete
• ICC Structural Steel and High Strength Bolting
• ICC Structural Welding
• ICC Fireproofing
• LA County Deputy Inspector (preferred)
• City of LA Deputy Inspector (preferred)
• Other ACI, ICC, DSA, NDT, or AWS/CWI Certifications (a plus)

Skills:

• Proactive problem solver with a proven track record of dependability
• Keen attention to detail and well-developed interpersonal skills (to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, subcontractors, city agents, and project managers)
• Versatility and willingness to perform both structural inspections and geotechnical soil testing based on project needs

Approximate Hourly Range: $45.00 - $60.00 an hour
