Special Handling Technician – Clean Harbors, Kimball, NE
We Build with Passion- Clean Harbors Kimball, NE NEW Incineration unit is seeking a Special Handling Technician who will perform industrial labor and other physically demanding work outdoors and inside the facility under potentially adverse conditions. This is a great opportunity for college students or recent high school graduates wishing to gain experience. NEW wage: $29/hour with OT, 4-12 hour rotating (days/nights) shifts per week (6a-6p/6p-6a). Must be willing to work nights.

Responsibilities
- Ensures Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.
- Operates industrial equipment, including but not limited to forklift.
- Performs general labor throughout the facility to prepare materials for the incineration process.
- Ensures the safety of himself and others around him.
- Performs manual tasks such as cleaning up spills, taking all safety precautions necessary to prevent injury.
- Handles hazardous waste, including bulk sampling, drum decanting, liquid pumping, tanker cleaning, and confined space entry (CF Space).
- Uses full protective suits and equipment such as Super Suckers and Guzzlers. Work involves elevated danger and high physical exertion; crews rotate in Ty-Vac suite on 1-hour in/1-hour out shifts due to heat and workload.
- Performs bucket drops, Rotary kiln operations, baghouse maintenance, and line cleaning.
- Handles sulfide materials with variable pH (low/high), which are both air- and water-reactive. Operations occur in bays with tanker feeds directed to the Train 2 unit (Ash/Truck operations deliver and manage tankers).
- Follows all standard operating procedures.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent – required.
- Forklift operation experience.
- Highly labor-intensive work wearing a Ty-vac suit and respirator for the majority of the shift.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- DOT training.
- Proficiency in Windows-based applications.
- Climb on and off forklifts.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks.
- Lift up to 50 lbs from the ground.
- Climb up and down vertical ladders.
- Capable of reaching, over, and down exerting a force.
- 20/20 eyesight corrected or uncorrected – depth perception is critical.
- 10 push-ups, deep knee squats, and sit-ups (to determine fitness).
- Good hand/eye coordination.
- Valid Driver's License required.
- Punctuality and attendance required.
- Respirator fit test upon hire – clean shaven face required (mustache okay!).
- Background check, drug screen, and physical – required.
