Job summary

Clean Harbors Kimball, NE seeks a Special Handling Technician for outdoor industrial labor. Nights may be required; rotating day/night shifts with OT are available. You will operate forklift and assist in preparing materials for incineration while following strict safety protocols.

Role requires a high school diploma, ability to lift 50 lbs, and comfort wearing Ty-Vac and respirator. Strong teamwork, reliable attendance, and a commitment to safety are essential for success in this physically

Qualifications

We Build with Passion- Clean Harbors Kimball, NE

Incineration units are seeking a Special Handling Technician who will be responsible for performing industrial labor and other physically demanding work outdoors, under potentially adverse conditions, as well as within the facility/plant work environment. This is a great opportunity for college students or recent high school grads wanting to gain some work experience. $29 hour w/ OT, 4- 12-hour rotating (days/nights) shifts per week (6a-6p/6p-6a). Must be willing to work nights. We are searching for a safety-oriented and reliable individual to join our team in Kimball, NE.

Responsibilities


  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times

  • Operates industrial equipment, included but not limited to forklift

  • Performs general labor throughout the facility to preparing materials for the incineration process

  • Ensures the safety of him or herself as well as those around them

  • Performs manual tasks such as cleaning up spills when necessary while taking all safety precautions necessary to prevent injury

  • This operation involves significant hazardous waste handling, including bulk sampling, drum decanting, liquid pumping, tanker cleaning, and confined space entry (CF Space).

  • Tasks require full protective suits and use of equipment such as Super Suckers and Guzzlers. Work is associated with elevated danger and high physical exertion - crews rotate in Ty-Vac suite on 1-hour in/1-hour out shifts due to heat and workload. Materials are wrapped, separated, and transferred to the warehouse for processing.

  • Includes bucket drops, Rotary kiln operations, and baghouse maintenance and line cleaning.

  • Involves handling sulfide materials with variable pH (low/high), which are both air- and water-reactive. Operations occur in bays with tanker feeds directed to the Train 2 unit (Ash/Truck operations deliver and manage tankers).

  • Follows all standard operating procedures

Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or equivalent- required

  • Forklift operation

  • Highly Labor-Intensive Work wearing a Ty-vac suit and respirator the majority of your shift!

  • Ability to work in team environment

  • DOT Training

  • Proficiency in Windows based applications

  • Climb on and off forklifts

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks

  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. from the ground to your waste

  • Climb up and down vertical ladders

  • Capable of reaching out, over and down exerting a force

  • 20/20 eyesight corrected or uncorrected - depth perception is critical

  • 10 pushups, deep knee squats and sit-ups (to determine if fit)

  • Good hand/eye coordination

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Punctuality and attendance required

  • Respirator fit test upon hire- clean shaven face required (mustache okay!)

  • Background check, drug screen and physical- required
