Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California is seeking a Special Events Manager in Los Angeles to lead fundraising events and manage donor partnerships. You will drive the There’s No Place Like Home Gala, supervise logistics, sponsorships, and in-kind donations, and report on revenue and expenses to the Development Team.
The role requires a bachelor’s degree and at least three years of nonprofit fundraising experience, with strong planning, communication, and budget skills.
Position Summary
The Special Events Manager is a member of the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House (“LARMH”) Development Team responsible for developing and managing events to generate funds for the organization. Responsible for the tactical execution of events in addition to event fundraising, the Special Events Manager ensures budgeted annual event revenue is achieved while maintaining a low expense ratio. Reporting to the Director of Development, this individual maintains a donor portfolio of event sponsors and attendees, and works with other staff and volunteers to achieve all fundraising goals.
Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Southern California (herein referred to as RMHCSC or the Chapter) is located in Los Angeles near several neighboring hospitals. Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible fund development experience at a nonprofit organization, including event coordination, OR any equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
General knowledge and demonstrated experience with office management; knowledge of the organizations and operations of administrative programs; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other management staff, employees, and the general public; ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
Highly motivated, self-starter able to solve problems.
Strong written and oral presentation skills to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences.

Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills are a must. Established experience with development, sales or sponsorship. Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment and be willing to work evenings/weekends as necessary.
Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals and professional journals. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, board members, families and the general public.
Strong knowledge of Excel; Ability to calculate figures and amounts. Ability to generate and critically analyze event budgets.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in development software, such as Raisers Edge and Classy is strongly desirable.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
California Driver's License is necessary for driving during occasional donor or event pick‑ups.
