Job summary

Provo City is seeking a part-time Recreation Lead to join the Special Events team at the Provo Recreation Center. You will assist the Special Events Coordinator in preparing for and managing events, plus develop engaging materials and social media content to promote programs to the public.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, some event planning or marketing experience, and a flexible schedule Monday through Saturday.

Position Title:Special Events Lead - RecreationJob Posting Closing Date:09/20Provo City is looking for a part-time Recreation Lead to work with the Special Events team at the Provo Recreation Center. This position is responsible for assisting the Special Events Coordinator in preparing for, marketing, and managing the various activities and events provided by the Recreation Center to the public. Qualified, civic-minded individuals interesting in contributing to an energetic, creative events team are encouraged to apply.Job DetailsWhat is the compensation?Pay Rate: $14.00 per hourPart-time Provo City employees are eligible to contribute to individual retirement savings plans through the City (401k, 457, Roth IRA, and/or Traditional IRA) and receive the following perks: a) free admission to the Provo Recreation Center, Peaks Ice Arena Public Skating, and Provo Shooting Sports Park; b) a free Provo City Library Card; c) a 25% discount on Provo Recreation Center memberships (direct family only); and d) discounts from various local and national vendors.What will I do?Organize, schedule, implement, and evaluate assigned recreational special events.Develop registration forms, policies, and practices in collaboration with operations staff.Establish and maintain schedules.Identify and report performance issues to supervisor.Provide informational feedback on event participation level and effectiveness.Solicit information from program participants.Post event notices and updates across platforms.Create digital, print, and graphic materials aligned with brand guidelines.Manage and schedule social media content.Supervise volunteers as needed.Assist other staff members and the public as needed and perform other related duties as required.What qualifications do I need to apply?High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).Any experience that demonstrates an ability to perform the work.A valid, lawful Driver License may be required.Event-planning experience preferred.Social media and marketing experience preferred.What is the schedule?Monday through Saturday. Flexible hours to work around your schedule. Event days are required. Required dates will be discused during the interview. 15 hours per week.What are the physical and environmental factors?This position requires office work and outdoor recreation work with sun and some adverse weather exposure. May include exposure to high-stress situations or environments , including contact with the public in confrontational or uncomfortable circumstances. Requires the ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.What is the selection process?Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on September 21, 2026. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
