Job summary

Spring Independent School District is seeking a Vocational Trainer in Houston, TX to support work experience opportunities for students receiving special education services. You will liaise with community businesses, develop employment skills, and promote programs with staff and parents.

The role requires collaboration with a vocational coordinator, adherence to IEPs, and compliance with district policies. CDL, CPR, and related certifications may be required within six weeks after hire.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• 48 hours of college coursework.
• Prior job related, and teaching students with special needs experience.
• CPR/AED/Physicals/Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (or willing to obtain within six weeks after hire date).
• Valid CDL (or willing to obtain CDL within six weeks after hire date).
• Have obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree from an accredited college or university (preferred).
• Valid Texas teacher certification (preferred).
• Special Education certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assist coordinator- transition & special population, teachers and staff to support vocational goals.
• Coordinate employer and school partners for work education objectives.
• Counsel students in job search skills and employment options.
• Maintain documentation for program participation and parent/guardian approval.
• Monitor student performance across work sites to identify training needs.
• Ensure compliance with child labor laws, insurance guidelines, and safety.
• Prepare reports and communications for parents and staff.

Education
