Job summary

Spring Independent School District in Houston seeks a Specialist - Special Education to provide professional development to classroom teachers for behavioral and academic needs of students in special education. The role includes campus-level coaching and district-level trainings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
• Three years of experience as a special education teacher and/or in a campus special education role.
• Master’s degree in Education preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record and transportation to Spring ISD sites.
• Evidence of previous success in improving outcomes for students in special education.

Responsibilities

• Professional Development: Provide job-embedded and district-level training to build teacher capacity.
• Instructional & Program Management: Offer technical assistance and participate in ARD/IEP meetings.
• Compliance and Accountability: Monitor district policy compliance for special education programs.
• Public Outreach and Support: Be visible to students, staff, parents and community; attend events.
• Conflict Resolution and Crisis Management: Respond to crises and support problem resolution.
• Fiscal Management: Utilize best practices and stewardship of funds.
• Technology: Participate in technology training related to assistive tech.
• Communication: Promote two-way communication with stakeholders.
• School/Organizational Climate: Maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders.
• Policy, Reports, and Law: Ensure compliance with laws and district policies.
• Other: Maintain confidentiality and pursue professional growth.
