Job summary

Round Lake Area Schools is seeking a Special Education Teaching Assistant for Early Childhood to support certified staff with both instructional assistance and student supervision. JOB SUMMARY

This role supports certified staff with direct instructional support and general supervision of students.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Valid Illinois Paraprofessional License registered in Lake County.

Preferred: Experience with students requiring social emotional supports.

10 Month Position - $22.73 per hour minimum

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of diverse student backgrounds and how they affect learning;
  • Knowledge of PBIS and RtI;
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, rules, regulations, and policies;
  • Understanding of various student needs and influences;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to apply PBIS and RtI principles;
  • Ability to assist in creating a safe and effective learning environment;
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies and materials;
  • Respectful communication with children and families;
  • Data collection and recording skills respecting confidentiality;
  • Ability to support and reinforce positive behavior strategies;
  • Ability to establish rapport with students;
  • Ability to follow directions and participate in team activities;
  • Ability to prepare and organize instructional materials;
  • Ability to support social skill development;
  • Use of ethical practices in student communication;
  • Strategies to promote student independence;
  • Support for diverse backgrounds.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

This includes assisting with physical needs, behavior management, classroom activities, documentation, supervision, and supporting instruction, including students on IEPs. Additional duties may include transportation and equipment use as needed.
