Teacher Assistant - Special Education Early Childhood (LC)

Oswego Community Unit School District 308 is seeking candidates for the position of Special Education Teacher Assistant. Responsibilities include supporting the academic, behavioral, and health/hygiene needs of students as directed by Special Education Teachers.

Qualified candidates will have a desire to assist students with specialized needs, knowledge of best practices for working with children with special needs, skills in applying guidance to work situations, the ability to lift and move up to thirty pounds (or assist with moving up to fifty pounds), and must obtain a license with the Illinois State Board of Education within sixty working days of hire.

The position offers a competitive salary of $20.50 per hour, a benefits package, participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF), a typical thirty-five hour work week, medical and dental insurance with a 75% employer contribution, and a work calendar with 12 paid holidays plus winter, spring, and summer breaks.

Benefits include employer-paid Life and AD&D insurance, Long Term Disability, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and three medical plan options (PPO and HMO). The district also provides a 100% claim reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses when enrolled in the PPO plan and using the RUSH Healthcare reimbursement program.
