Job summary

Great Hearts Academies in North Texas is seeking Special Education Teachers and Coordinators to provide inclusive services for students with disabilities on our Irving campus. The roles involve planning, delivering, and evaluating individualized education plans within inclusion, resource, and LID settings.

Coordinators will ensure ARD/IEP compliance, coordinate the Child Centered Special Education process, and collaborate with staff, parents, and administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required for both teachers and coordinators.
• Valid Texas Special Education Teaching Certification/Appropriate Licensure or Generalist with endorsements.
• 1–2 years teaching experience for teachers; 3–5 years for coordinators.
• Experience leading/mentoring teachers and providing PD is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities.
• Draft and maintain IEPs, Prior Written Notices, and related paperwork.
• Lead ARD/IEP meetings and coordinate services on campus.
• Collaborate with related service providers, general education staff, and parents.
• Coordinate all aspects of the Child Centered Special Education process on the campus.

Position Title: Special Education Teachers and Coordinators - North TexasLocation: Great Hearts Texas - North Texas DFW AcademiesReports To: HeadmasterFLSA Status: Exempt, SalariedPosition Summaries:In consultation with other school personnel, the Special Education Teacher:Provides educational services to students with disabilitiesIs responsible for planning, developing, delivering, and evaluating appropriate individualized educational services, learning programs, and instruction in the inclusion, resource, LID, and other instructional settings.The Special Education Campus Coordinator (in collaboration with the Special Education Director, Regional Coordinator, and Campus Headmaster) will:Coordinate all aspects of the Child Centered Special Education Process on assigned campus.Ensure that the ARD/IEP process and the quality of programs for students with disabilities are in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements.Duties and Responsibilities:Planning and providing specially designed instructions to students receiving special education and related services.Collaborating with related service providers and general education staff in the implementation of accommodations and modificationsDrafting and maintaining IEPs, Prior Written Notices, and potentially evaluation paperwork, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelinesPlanning and facilitating meetings throughout the special education processOngoing communication and collaboration with parents, staff, and administrative staff regarding student planning and progress.Managing the transition of new enrollees eligible for special education and related services.Required/Preferred Education:Teachers: Bachelor's degree requiredCoordinators: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferredRequired/Preferred Experience:Teachers: 1-2 years teaching experience preferred.Coordinators:3-5 years of successful Special Education teaching experienceCampus leadership experience in Special EducationExperience coaching/mentoring teachers and/or providing professional developmentRequired Certifications:Valid Texas Special Education Teaching Certification/Appropriate Board LicensureValid Texas Generalist/Core content Teaching Certification with required endorsements or training for relevant subject and level.Physical Functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching.
