Job summary

Great Hearts Academies is seeking an Exceptional Student Services Teacher for the Irving Lower School to support students with IEPs through consultation, resource, and inclusion models, ensuring time in the general classroom when possible.

The SPED teacher designs lessons aligned to IEP goals, coordinates with related service providers and parents, writes IEPs, and leads committee meetings while pursuing ongoing professional development and graduate coursework.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • TX Special Education Certification and Generalist or Core Academic Subject Area relevant to grades served.
  • US work authorization required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan lessons aligned with individual IEP goals and provide specially designed instruction.
  • Teach subjects to students receiving special education services and monitor progress.
  • Write and maintain IEPs, Prior Written Notices, and evaluation paperwork in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
