Job summary

VACANCY

The Valley View Public School District is seeking an individual to fill a TEMPORARY full-time Special Education teaching position to cover a Leave Of Absence for the 2026-2027 school year.

JOB SUMMARY

The teacher is responsible to the Building Principal for: working collaboratively with school staff to develop and implement effective instructional strategies in Spanish and English (as needed) for students with disabilities in the bilingual education program setting. Participate in projects to develop and sustain the bilingual special education environment for students with disabilities who are native Spanish speakers and who are in the process of developing English proficiency through differentiated instruction, consultation, and collaboration.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Endorsement or Approval in Bilingual Education OR Current Temporary Transitional Bilingual Education Certificate (IL Type 29) endorsed in Spanish and with at least three years left in validity (excluding the 2 year extension)
• Current LBS1 Certificate, LBS1 Limited (LD/ED), or Type 10 (LD/ED).
• Excellent communication skills with students, teachers and parents
• Knowledge of current teaching techniques for students with disabilities
• Ability to write & implement Individual Education Plans (IEP's)
• Ability to work cooperatively with support personnel on a daily basis
• Satisfactory special education teaching experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Plan collaboratively with staff to develop specially designed instruction, utilizingdifferent co-teaching models for delivery as appropriate to student needs.
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to he developmental levels and interests of their students.
• Modify, adapt and conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate studentprogress. Administer standardized and informal assessments as directed, modifyand adapt tests, environment or equipment to meet individual student needs.
• Monitor and review student progress via assessment data, maintain records ofstudent work, and develop intervention strategies to ensure student success andgrowth.
• Set and communicate clear expectations for classroom behavior and schoolenvironment by applying positive reinforcement and/or behavior modificationtechniques as needed. Assist in the development and implementation of studentbehavior intervention plans.
• Communicate verbally and in writing regularly with parents, other educators andstudents on progress.
• Meet regularly and work collaboratively with other Teachers, Parapros andspecialists to discuss individual student's modifications or adaptations, ongoinglearning issues, interventions or areas of concern.
• Attend and actively participate in building and District Teams to facilitate earlyinvolvement and resolution of academic or behavior concerns.
• Collaborate with other staff in planning, modifying, enhancing and implementingcurriculum, school and District goals and objectives.
• Enforce and support District and School policies, philosophies and objectives withstudents and parents.
• Participate in staff development and school improvement activities in order tomaintain professional growth. Plan and implement best practices and strategies.
• Participate in events outside of the regularly scheduled work day.
• Other duties as assigned
