Job summary

New Haven Youth Vista, CA is seeking a Special Education Teacher to deliver individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals within a structured, therapeutic school environment.

You will collaborate with clinical and support staff to ensure consistent academic, behavioral, and emotional support for at-risk youth, while managing classrooms and documenting progress. 225-day school year position with benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• California Education Specialist Instruction Credential required or eligible to obtain.
• CLAD Certification required or strongly preferred.
• Minimum 2–3 years of teaching experience preferred.
• Experience working with students with mild to moderate disabilities required.
• Strong classroom management and ability to engage high-needs student populations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals using direct instruction, small group, and project-based learning.
• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Common Core standards.
• Maintain a structured, safe, and supportive classroom environment using effective behavior management strategies.
• Serve as case manager for assigned IEPs/ITPs and collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams.
• Track, document, and report student academic, behavioral, and attendance progress.
• Supervise instructional aides and support staff to ensure consistent implementation of student plans.
• Participate in team meetings, treatment planning, and school-wide programming.
