Job summary

The Baby Fold in Normal, IL is hiring a Special Education Teacher to lead classroom instruction for students with behavioral and developmental needs. The role requires coordinating and implementing individualized education plans, with closing of IEP goals and progress reporting.

Position is full-time with school hours, working 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, following the school calendar and summer obligations. Competitive salary with a $3,000 sign-on bonus for external candidates.

Now urgently hiring Special Education Teachers at Hammitt Schools (The Baby Fold) in Normal, IL. The Special Education Teacher is the lead classroom teacher, responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing the assigned classroom programs (traditional K-12 behavioral disability focus). Additionally, the Special Education Teacher provides classroom leadership and works in cooperation with the assigned classroom staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Educational Instruction:Plans, coordinates, evaluates, and implements a comprehensive curriculum which meets the individualized behavioral, academic and social needs of each student enrolled in the classroom and which is directly related to each child’s Individualized Educational Plan. Assesses student performance levels (behavioral and academic) and recommends appropriate goals and objectives in the IEP staffing process.
  • Progress Reporting:Collects, prepares and presents behavioral and academic data on each child in the classroom. Maintains behavioral data and applies statistical analysis as required by program standards to measure student progress.
  • Lesson Plans:Develops and implements lesson plans that reflect best practice in specialized educational instruction.

LOCATION: Hammitt Schools: 612 Oglesby Ave., Normal, IL or 108 E. Willow St. Normal, IL

WORK HOURS: Full-time, generally 8:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M., Monday through Friday, following the school calendar. Responsible for at least 3 weeks of summer school, ESY (extended school year).

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degreein appropriate area of special education and/or secondary education, specializing in teaching children with one or more of the following: behavior disabilities, emotional disabilities, learning disabilities, autism spectrum, speech and language deficits and/or developmental disabilities.
  • Special Education Teacher License (LBS-1 licensure with the State of Illinois in Special Education) in one or more of the above-mentioned disabilities.
Salary/Benefits

PAY: Salary, exempt, $50,000 - $70,000 Pay increases by experience and education level. Paid over school breaks, higher pay for highly qualified candidates.
