Job description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to serve students in kindergarten through first grade, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young learners with diverse needs, including those with autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, and other neurodevelopmental conditions. About our School

We are a small inclusive Christian school. As a young school, we are looking for people that can grow with us. We started in January 2025 with 8 students and have developed a unique program that is centered around individualization, social and life skills, and developing the child as a whole. We currently have about 20 students and continue to grow!

About the Position
  • K-1 inclusive classroom
  • 3-6 students (depending on the day- some students are parttime)
  • School hours are 9-3pm, contract hours 8:45-3:15
Responsibilities
  • Design and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to the unique needs of K-1 students with disabilities.
  • Develop and monitor individual academic and social goals. While we don't have IEPs, we still track progress.
  • Utilize evidence-based behavioral therapy techniques and behavior management strategies to support positive behavior and social-emotional development.
  • Collaborate effectively with speech therapists, occupational therapists, behavior specialists, parents, and other professionals to provide comprehensive support for each student’s development.
  • Maintain professional parent communication.
Skills
  • Proven experience working with children in early childhood education settings, particularly within special education or preschool environments.
  • Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, early intervention strategies, and classroom management techniques for students with disabilities.
  • Expertise in teaching students with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders support, and neurodevelopmental disorder accommodations.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective parent-teacher collaboration and team coordination; ability to convey complex information clearly and compassionately.
  • Familiarity with special education law (IDEA), IEP processes, instructional modifications, and behavior management plans tailored for diverse learners.
Preferred Experience
  • Licensed teacher certification
  • Experience in early childhood education (preschool, kidergarten, elementary)
  • Experience with special education
