Job summary

The Menta Education Group is seeking a Special Education Teacher Intern for a 10-month placement at Southwest Academy, in Phoenix, AZ. The role offers a self-contained classroom, with a social-emotional learning framework and inquiry-based academics designed to support diverse learners.

Responsibilities include teaching core subjects, personalizing instruction, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to achieve positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• Experience working with students with a range of disabilities—ASD, ED, TBI, mild to moderate cognitive/developmental disabilities—preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to multitask.
• Positive attitude and well-organized demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Understand special education curriculum and teach diverse learners.
• Teach all subjects in a self-contained classroom.
• Provide a differentiated learning environment.
• Collaborate with staff including curriculum and clinical teams.
• Receive on-campus support from other teachers and staff.
• Personalize learning and support social-emotional learning.
• Maintain a classroom size of about 10 students with paraprofessional support.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and support.
