Job summary

The Menta Education Group seeks a Special Education Teacher Intern to educate a small self-contained class at Southwest Academy, Phoenix, AZ, within a PBIS-rich social-emotional learning environment.

Location is Phoenix, with hours 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Mon-Fri, on a 10-month school calendar. A Bachelor’s Degree is required; Arizona Substitute Teacher Certification is strongly preferred, and a tuition-reimbursed path to Special Education licensure is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or teaching certificate is required.
• Arizona Substitute Teacher Certification strongly preferred.
• Willing to pursue Special Education Certification and return to university.
• Experience with students with a range of disabilities.
• Strong problem-solving, organized, and positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Engage in understanding special education curriculum and how to teach diverse learners.
• Teach all subjects in a classroom setting.
• Provide a differentiated learning environment.
• Collaborate with staff including curriculum and clinical staff to yield positive results for students.
• Gain on-campus support from other teachers, administrators, curriculum staff, and clinical staff who are Menta employees.
• Personalize learning to support individual student needs.
• Provide a social-emotional learning environment.
• Maintain a classroom size of around 10 students with paraprofessional support.
• Receive professional development and support.
