Job summary

LEARN Academy in South West Phoenix, AZ seeks an Alternative Education Teacher for the 26/27 school year with an Elementary Education certification. The role focuses on meeting the needs of students with special needs through a mix of direct instruction, blended learning, and community-based activities.

You will develop IEPs, implement SDI, and work with a team of specialists to support academic, emotional, and social growth in a structured, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Must have valid AZ Elementary and Special Education Credential (or enrolled in certification).
• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred or intern in special education.
• Autism-specific or related certificate preferred – acceptable with another credential.
• Experience working with students with challenging behaviors preferred.
• Must be able to perform required physical activities and safety procedures per PCMA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement student IEPs and SDI according to individual needs.
• Administer instructional activities to ensure a positive, engaging learning environment.
• Identify, select, and modify instructional resources for diverse learners.
• Assess curricular needs and propose improvement plans.
• Collaborate with OTs, SLPs, BCBAs, Clinical Specialists, and Administrators.
