Job summary

The Hughes Center in Danville, VA is seeking a Special Education Teacher to deliver instructional services to school-age children in a structured learning environment. The role emphasizes individualized instruction, IEP/IPP development, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

You will implement behavior plans, monitor student progress, maintain detailed records, and communicate with families and agencies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field required.
Current Virginia or out-of-state teaching license in Special Education or General Curriculum K-12; or Special Education conditional license with plans to obtain full license.
Must be at least 21 years old.

Responsibilities

Provide developmentally appropriate instruction to students according to IEP/IPP goals and Hughes Center practices.
Implement Behavioral Program, monitor progress, and adjust strategies in consultation with the treatment team.
Assess academic achievement regularly and adjust instructional planning to maximize progress.
Maintain consistent communication with staff, parents/guardians, and local education agencies; document progress and update IEPs/IPPs.
Participate in professional development activities, on-site or off-site.
Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with students, staff, and the community.
