Job summary

Henry County Schools is seeking an Exceptional Student Education Teacher to plan and deliver instruction, develop and monitor IEPs/ILPs, and collaborate with parents and school staff. The role requires maintaining confidential information, adherence to ethics, and reliability on-site.

Qualifications

• Georgia Educator Certificate or eligible per district qualifications.
• Ability to maintain highly confidential information professionally.
• Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.
• Integrity, confidentiality, strong professional reputation.
• Must abide by Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
• Reliability: regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
• Must be present at the physical worksite.
• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with mobility needs as needed.
• Ability to meet the needs of students with severe disabilities as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials.
• Assist with eligibility process to IEP and ILP initiation and completion.
• Develop and monitor IEP/ILP for each student on caseload.
• Collaborate with parents/guardians on education program.
• Maintain accurate paperwork within timelines.
• Collaborate with general education and Related Services staff to provide services.
• Maintain lesson plans per policies and directives.
• Deliver research-based instruction per IEPs/ILPs.
• Develop data-driven behavior plans (FBAs/BIPs) based on needs.
• Use formative and summative assessments; report progress to parents.
• Ensure due process safeguards for students and families.
• Adhere to district policies and federal/state regulations.
• Serve as a resource to general education teachers.
• Maintain prompt and professional communication with parents.
• Participate in district/school/department/parent meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
