Job summary

Community Independent School District in Texas is seeking a dedicated special education teacher to develop and adapt instructional materials, align curricula to ARD/IEP goals, and support students’ intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.

You will collaborate with parents and staff, manage IEP-driven plans, assess student progress, and participate in ARD meetings, while maintaining a safe, inclusive classroom environment and adhering to district policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments.
• Knowledge of ARD/IEP goal setting process and implementation.
• Knowledge of how to adapt curriculum and instruction for special needs.
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff to develop IEP through ARD process for each student assigned.
• Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development program for assigned students and show written evidence of preparation as required.
• Conduct assessment of student learning styles and plan/use appropriate instructional strategies reflecting needs of students.
• Present subject matter according to IEP guidelines and employ varied instructional techniques and media.
• Work with classroom teachers to modify curricula and assist special education students in regular classes.
• Participate in ARD Committee meetings on a regular basis.
• Participate in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional media.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
• Provide or supervise personal care, medical care, and feeding of students as stated in IEP.
• Sponsor extracurricular activities and consult about education, social, medical, and personal needs of students.
• Create a conducive classroom environment and manage student behavior according to IEP.
