Job summary

Stonegate Elementary School in Silver Spring seeks a Special Education Teacher to provide direct instruction and instructional support to students with disabilities and to collaborate with the general education teacher. You will monitor outcomes and assist in developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

The position requires attendance at meetings outside the instructional day as mandated by MCPS agreements and completion of courses in behavioral management and related areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in special education required.
• Student teaching or 2+ years of teaching experience in elementary/secondary level required.
• Fluent in learning theory, differentiated instruction, developmental reading, child development, applied behavior analysis, and assessment.
• Maryland Standard Professional Certification I (SPC I) in special education required; certification in a content area desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and instructional support to students with disabilities.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion.
• Monitor and evaluate outcomes for students with disabilities.
• Assist in development of IEPs (Individualized Education Programs).
• Attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside instructional day as required by MCPS.
