Job summary

BASIS DC is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team and support students under their IEPs in a self-contained classroom setting.

Candidates must hold a valid Washington, DC Educator License in Special Education and demonstrate experience planning and delivering specially designed instruction, collaborating with general education teachers, and coordinating IEP meetings.

Qualifications

• Valid Special Education certificate in relevant jurisdiction.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card and/or satisfactory applicable state background check.

Responsibilities

• Work with students with disabilities in small group settings or 1:1 setting.
• Interact directly with assigned students to fulfill IEP requirements.
• Fulfill required provisions in student plans, including service minutes, by providing specially designed instruction and facilitating other supports and/or related services.
• Provide instructional interventions and academic support to individual students or small groups.
• Coordinate IEP team meetings and communicate with parents and staff.
• Ensure compliance with all state and federal special education requirements.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to implement IEP requirements for a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE).
• Collect and maintain documentation for IEPs and protect confidentiality of student records.
