Job summary

BASIS DC is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team. The candidate must hold a valid Washington, D.C. Educator License in Special Education issued by OSSE and be prepared to work with students in IEP-based settings.

The role involves delivering specially designed instruction, coordinating IEP meetings, and collaborating with general education staff to ensure FAPE. Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s degree and relevant certifications (CPI/TACT-2).

Qualifications

• Must hold valid Washington, D.C. Special Education certificate.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• IVP/Background check clearance or equivalent state check.

Responsibilities

• Work with students with disabilities in small group or 1:1 settings.
• Meet with IEP teams and support classroom interventions.
• Provide specially designed instruction and related services.
• Coordinate IEP meetings and parent communication.
• Monitor progress and maintain confidential student records.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to deliver FAPE.
• Attend and facilitate IEP meetings and required compliance.
• Oversee ESS staff and assist with testing as needed.
