Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Alabama Professional Certificate.
• Must meet Every Student Succeed Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements or be willing to meet the requirements.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, school and agency counselors and related service providers to support students who require special education services
• Assist in the development and implementation of the individual education service and transition plan for students enrolled in the education setting
• Guide students through a program of study that meets objectives and prepares students to master grade level standards
• Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and Birmingham City Schools policies
• Collaborate with the teacher of record to develop lesson plans and materials compatible with curriculum standards; provide individualized and small group instruction
• Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to maximize instructional time
• Evaluate academic and social growth of students, prepare report cards, and maintain records
• Communicate progress with parents or guardians through conferences
• Supervise student movement and escorts to resources and other activities
• Administer standardized testing
• Use current technology for instruction and management purposes
• Perform other duties as assigned
