Job summary

The Chester County Intermediate Unit seeks an Elementary Learning Support Special Education Teacher for the Child & Career Development Center in Coatesville, PA. This role is within the Division of Student Services, focusing on students with intellectual disabilities and related needs, aligning instruction with IEP goals.

You will plan curriculum, monitor progress, collaborate with families and professionals, and maintain compliant documentation while ensuring a safe, engaging classroom

Qualifications

• Minimum of a bachelor level degree in education required.
• PDE certification in Special Education required.
• Experience modifying general education content to meet diverse needs.
• 3-5 years experience with students with intellectual disabilities, autism and challenging behavior preferred.
• Current police, child abuse & FBI fingerprint clearances, and MA provider clearance.

Responsibilities

• Instruct individuals in special education skill areas.
• Plan curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods.
• Evaluate and monitor student progress based on performance and observations.
• Support objectives and interventions of the educational program.
• Maintain safe physical environment of the classroom.
• Maintain contact with parents and professionals concerning student progress.
• Develop IEPs addressing specific academic, behavioral, and speech needs.
• Prepare report cards and educational records as required; participate in IEP team activities.

At the present time, a vacancy exists for an Elementary Learning Support Special Education Teacher within the Division of Student Services of the CCIU. The position will be located at the Child & Career Development Center in Coatesville, PA

Qualifications

• Minimum of a bachelor level degree in education required
• 3-5 years experience working with students with intellectual disabilities, autism and significant challenging behavior strongly preferred
• PDE certification in Special Education required
• Experience with modifying general education content to meet the diverse needs of students required
• Prior experience working with students in an extended school year teaching position preferred
• Current police, child abuse & FBI fingerprint clearances
• Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by CCIU upon hire)

• Support objectives and interventions of the educational program
• Maintain safe physical environment of the classroom
• Maintain contact with parents of students and/or professionals concerning student progress
• Develop IEPs addressing specific academic, behavioral, and speech needs of students
• Prepare report cards, educational records, classroom observation records, and other documentation as required. Function as integral member of treatment/IEP team, addressing needs of students

Salary - 2026-2027 School Year (Professional)

• $62,155 - $89,730 - Instructional I
• $64,834 - $93,324 - Instructional II
• $69,353 - $101,911 - Master's degree
• $72,740 - 105,924 - Master's degree plus 15 credits
• $74,415 - 107,845 - Master's degree plus 30 credits

Schedule

Monday- Friday, 7.5 hours/day

194 days/ yr during year one (191-days worked year two; 190-days worked every subsequent year)
