Job summary

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Discrete Trial Training (DTT) delivery.
  • Strong data collection and progress monitoring skills.
  • Knowledge of IEP processes and annual goal development.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with transition staff for postsecondary planning.
  • Support inclusion and accommodations within the school.

Job description

Westfield Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following positions in the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) program at Paper Mill Elementary School.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of authorized administrators shall provide:

  1. Direct instruction to students in program methodologies including but not limited to Applied Behavior Analysis and Discrete Trial Training.
  2. Development of individualized curriculum and support with generalization.
  3. Instruction of social skills curriculum and support with generalization.
  4. Case management of all students' IEP services including development and implementation of goals and objectives, progress reporting.
  5. Evaluate student progress based on work output and observation; determine goals, objectives and directions.
  6. Close communication with parents; parent consultation as needed.
  7. Consultation/collaboration with content area instructors, related service providers and consultants.
  8. Development of behavior protocols and data collection.
  9. Collaboration with transition coordinator and planning for post secondary goals.
  10. Development of behavior protocols and data collection.
  11. Consultation with teachers and administrators within larger school community to identify and develop increased opportunities for inclusion, and assist in the implementation of accommodations.
  12. Maintain the physical environment of the classroom for organization and presentation purposes.
  13. Assist other professionals in resolving psychological, social, academic, and disciplinary problems of students.
  14. Assist in screening, evaluating, and recommending placement of students in the program.
  15. Supervise students in and out of classroom activities during the school day.
  16. Prepare report cards, education records, IEP forms, classroom observation records and other forms.
  17. Administer testing evaluation.
  18. Implementation and knowledge of ABLLS assessment.
  19. Participate in IEP meetings.
  20. Spend appropriate time outside of regular school hours to prepare classes, assess student work, and perform ancillary duties.
  21. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the building principal or the Superintendent of Schools and/or their designee.

Building Principal and Administrator of Special Education and Student Support Services

The terms of employment and salary will be in accordance with the provisions of the Westfield Public Schools Unit A salary schedule. Salary placement will be based on information contained in the application as submitted. Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Westfield School Committee policy on evaluation.
