Job summary

Westfield Public Schools is seeking a Special Education teacher for the Elementary Intensive Autism Program at Southampton Road Elementary School in Westfield, MA. The role involves direct instruction, development of individualized curricula, and collaboration with teachers and related service providers to support students with autism across IEP goals and progress monitoring.

Qualifications

• MA licensure for Moderate Disabilities and Elementary.
• MA licensure for Severe Disabilities.
• Experience with Autism/PPD/Asperger's at various levels of functioning including behavior problems.
• Applied Behavior Analysis certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct instruction using program methodologies including ABA and DTT.
• Develop individualized curriculum and support with generalization.
• Instruction of social skills curriculum and generalization support.
• IEP development, goals, objectives, and progress reporting.
• Communicate with parents and provide consultation as needed.
• Collaborate with content area instructors and related service providers.
• Develop behavior protocols and data collection.
• Coordinate with transition planning and postsecondary goals.
• Assist in screening, placement decisions, and classroom supervision.
• Prepare reports and participate in IEP meetings.
• Spend time outside of regular hours for planning and duties.
