Job summary

The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) is seeking an Special Education Teacher- Elementary Emotional Support for the Child & Career Development Center- Engle Education Center Campus in West Grove, PA. This role supports students with intellectual disabilities and significant behavioral challenges within a collaborative educational team.

Responsibilities include planning curricula, developing IEPs, monitoring progress, and maintaining strong parental communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education required.
• PDE certification in special education or willingness to become emergency certified required.
• Experience modifying general education content to meet diverse student needs.

A vacancy exists for a Special Education Teacher- Elementary Emotional Support within the Division of Student Services of the CCIU. This position will be located at the Child & Career Development Center- Engle Education Center Campus in West Grove, PA.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Instruct individuals in special education skill areas
• Plan curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods
• Evaluate and monitor student progress based on classroom performance, test scores, and observation of behavior
• Support objectives and interventions of the educational program
• Maintain safe physical environment of the classroom
• Maintain contact with parents of students and/or professionals concerning student progress
• Develop IEPs addressing specific academic, behavioral, and speech needs of students
• Prepare report cards, educational records, classroom observation records, and other documentation as required. Function as integral member of treatment/IEP team, addressing needs of students

Experience & Education

• Minimum of a bachelor level degree in education required
• 3-5 years experience working with students with intellectual disabilities, autism and significant challenging behavior preferred
• PDE certification in special education required or willingness to become emergency certified required
• Experience with modifying general education content to meet the diverse needs of students

Professional & Other Clearances

• Current police, child abuse & FBI fingerprint clearances
• Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by CCIU upon hire)

Schedule

7.5 hours a day; 190 days per year (194 year one; 191 year two)

Salary (2026 - 2027 School-Year)

Instructional I: $62,155 - $89,730/yr.

Instructional II: $64,834 - $93,324/yr.

Master's Degree: $69,353 - $101,911/yr.

Master's + 15: $72,740 - $105,924/yr.

Master's + 30: $74,415 - $107,845/yr.

Placement on salary scale is commensurate with years of experience in a relevant role*
