Job summary

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois PEL with LBS1 endorsement.
• Experience teaching or student teaching.
• Strong interpersonal communication with teachers, students, parents and staff.
• Strong knowledge of secondary curriculum.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of intervention strategies and progress monitoring.
• Ability to model teaching strategies for diverse learning styles.
• Ability to informally assess learning/behavior and document data.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with all special education and general education staff.
• Work under the direction of the building principal.
• Provide instruction as determined by the students' IEPs.
• Participate in the development of comprehensive IEPs including behavior intervention plans.
• Provide consultation, training to teachers and parents of students experiencing learning or behavioral problems.
• Provide information to parents relative to strategies that can be used at home to support the school's efforts.
• Take responsibility for implementation of IEPs for students on assigned caseload.
• Other duties as assigned.
