Job summary

Gersh Autism in West Hempstead, NY is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to serve as the Primary Educator for our students in a year‑round school program.

You will lead daily instructional programs aligned with IEP goals, communicate with families, complete lesson plans, participate in CSE/IEP meetings, and collaborate with a supportive team to promote academic, social, and emotional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field; NY certification required.
• Experience with ADHD, LD, HFA preferred.
• Experience in assessment and report writing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily instructional programs to drive student achievement.
• Communicate with parents to support student participation.
• Utilize digital platforms and tools for instruction as applicable.
• Use motivational strategies to engage students.
• Prepare lessons aligned with IEP goals.
• Record attendance and document lesson outcomes.
• Attend CSE/IEP meetings when needed.
• Update IEPs/goals as needed.
• Coach and mentor families to support daily learning.
• Prepare resources, lessons, and materials.
• Monitor student participation and progress.
• Report progress to supervisor/BCBA.
